Airbnb's Passport & Commerce team is building the trusted account and commerce foundation that enables anyone, anywhere to become part of the Airbnb community. This newly formed organization brings together identity and commerce foundations, with a mission to move Airbnb beyond the transaction—building a world where accounts create trust, value sticks, and benefits travel with users and their businesses. As a Software Engineer on the Web team, you will build web experiences that bring account features to life for millions of guests and hosts. You'll own well-scoped features from technical design through launch, working closely with backend, iOS, Android, and design partners. You'll design and build web features using modern, component-driven React and TypeScript, partner with product and design to create polished and accessible experiences, and collaborate across platform teams to keep feature behavior and data consistent. You'll write clean, well-tested, maintainable code, participate actively in code and design reviews, learn from senior engineers on the team, and contribute to shared web patterns and best practices as the team scales. You'll also troubleshoot and resolve bugs, performance, and reliability issues affecting the web app. Success in this role means shipping reliable, performant, and polished web experiences that maintain parity with iOS and Android surfaces, growing your ownership over time as the web presence expands, and becoming a dependable contributor the team can count on to deliver. REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years of professional front-end/web engineering experience, including shipping features in a large-scale, production consumer web application - Proficiency in TypeScript and React (or comparable modern framework), including component-driven architecture, state management, and data-fetching patterns (e.g., GraphQL) - Experience working with backend and other platform (iOS and Android) engineers to integrate APIs and keep cross-platform experiences consistent - Track record of delivering features from technical design through launch and iteration, with growing scope and independence - Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a habit of seeking and acting on feedback - Comfort operating with some ambiguity, including on a newly formed team establishing new surfaces for the first time - Solid understanding of web performance, accessibility (WCAG), responsive design, and CI/deployment practices for a large-scale consumer site
