Salary: CAD 110,000 - 151,800 / annual
Okta's Auth0 Platform Observability team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead observability tooling and infrastructure that monitors the Auth0 platform. You will own the observability stack—metrics, logs, and traces—ensuring Product and Platform Engineers can effectively monitor and observe the platform while shipping rapidly.
In this role, you will act as a core technical leader, working cross-functionally to integrate services with instrumentation libraries, support product teams, and investigate incidents to identify observability gaps. You will champion observability best practices across the engineering organization, educating teams on standardized instrumentation and correcting anti-patterns.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and maintaining scalable observability infrastructure using Terraform and cloud-native tools
- Provisioning, configuring, and monitoring cloud infrastructure (AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure)
- Troubleshooting performance and operational issues in production environments
- Automating operational tasks and improving deployment scripts
- Participating in major incident response to diagnose root causes and identify telemetry gaps
- Leading cross-team initiatives to improve instrumentation standards
- Coaching and mentoring junior engineers on observability best practices
- Working with Datadog ecosystem (Metrics, Logs, Traces, Error Tracking) and OpenTelemetry frameworks
You should have 3+ years of platform engineering, SRE, or DevOps experience, with strong expertise in Datadog, cloud infrastructure, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservice architecture. Proficiency in Node.js or Golang is required. Experience with OpenTelemetry, Vector, or similar instrumentation frameworks is highly valued. You will be a hands-on technical leader who can drive initiatives and collaborate seamlessly across multiple engineering teams.
