Mistral is building full-stack AI solutions—from frontier models to developer tools and compute infrastructure. This role focuses on designing and operating large-scale data center networks that power AI workloads across high-stakes industries including finance, manufacturing, defense, and healthcare.
As a Software Engineer in Network Automation, you will architect and build systems for managing complex data center fabrics. Your responsibilities include designing leaf-spine underlays and EVPN/VXLAN overlays for multi-tenant AI infrastructure, translating fabric requirements into APIs and automation, and building reliable control-plane software that reconciles desired and observed network state. You will design safe change workflows with validation, dry runs, atomic updates, and failure recovery; integrate with data center switch operating systems while maintaining vendor-neutral abstractions; and participate in on-call rotations to troubleshoot production incidents and drive lasting improvements.
You will also review designs and code, explain networking trade-offs, develop lab and production tests, and help raise network engineering quality across the organization.
Required qualifications include deep hands-on experience with Ethernet switching, IP routing, BGP-based leaf-spine fabrics, EVPN/VXLAN, and VRF-based multitenancy. You need strong judgment around fabric design, scale, convergence, and failure modes; production network automation experience (desired state, idempotency, concurrency, observability, recovery); strong software engineering fundamentals in a general-purpose language; experience with southbound network APIs (REST, gNMI/OpenConfig, NETCONF); hands-on experience with major data center network operating systems (Cumulus Linux, Arista EOS, SONiC, Junos, NX-OS); strong diagnostic skills using routing state, packet captures, and telemetry; and clear, pragmatic communication.
Nice-to-have skills include Go experience, Kubernetes controllers/operators, network lab tools (containerlab, NVIDIA Air, EVE-NG), and experience with high-performance Ethernet, RoCE, InfiniBand, or GPU infrastructure.
