Applied Intuition is a $15B-valued AI infrastructure company (founded 2017) powering physical intelligence for autonomous systems across automotive, defense, trucking, construction, mining, and agriculture. The company serves 18 of the top 20 global automakers and the U.S. military and its allies.
You will join the Seoul office (based in Gangnam) as a Software Engineer focused on multi-agent UAV autonomy development tools. This is a full-time, in-office role (5 days/week, with flexibility for occasional remote work) reporting into the global product engineering organization.
In this role, you will:
- Design, develop, and maintain core features of Applied Intuition's autonomy development tools, emphasizing multi-agent mission planning, coordination, and training workflows.
- Validate tools in practice by building reference multi-agent UAV autonomy systems, exercising the full workflow from simulation through real-world deployment, and translating failures into product requirements.
- Define simulation strategy across the development cycle—where fidelity matters, how tuning and validation should be structured, and how to close the gap between simulated and real flight behavior.
- Collaborate frequently with U.S.-based product and engineering teams on shared roadmaps, serving as the Korea-based extension of global product teams.
- Contribute to system-level design and architecture for scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Conduct technical deep dives with Korean defense customers on selected features, probing operational requirements and translating findings into product specifications and roadmap input.
- Guide customers on maximizing the tools for their own multi-agent unmanned systems development, drawing on hands-on experience.
- Mentor engineers and share domain knowledge across the Korea team.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field.
- 5+ years of professional engineering experience (or equivalent research experience) in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment.
- Hands-on experience in at least one of the following:
* Unmanned aerial systems development: built and flown real unmanned aircraft; understand UAS development end-to-end; know airframe tuning processes and where simulation does/does not help.
* Multi-agent optimization and control: researched or engineered algorithms coordinating multiple agents for optimal mission execution, including ML methods such as reinforcement learning.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, or similar programming languages.
- Experience on complex, multidisciplinary projects in collaborative team settings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal) for daily U.S. team collaboration and documentation.
- Ability to lead technical discussions with customers, drawing out requirements, challenging assumptions, and explaining design trade-offs to engineers and domain experts.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience across both UAS development and multi-agent optimization/control areas.
- Familiarity with flight control stacks and autopilot software (PX4, ArduPilot) and ground control/data link elements of complete unmanned aerial systems.
- Familiarity with ATR, drone swarming, path planning, or aerospace control systems from a domain user perspective informing tool design.
- Experience building simulation platforms, ML training infrastructure, or developer tooling for robotics, autonomy, or defense applications.
- Experience in closed-network/air-gapped deployment environments common in defense.
- Professional fluency in Korean for direct technical engagement with Korean defense customers.
