Salary: USD 145,000 - 183,250 / annual

Atoms is building Physical AI—real-world robots for industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. The company integrates hardware, software, AI, operations, and manufacturing to deploy intelligent systems into real environments at scale. As a Software Engineer in Money Engineering, you will own core money platform capabilities with a focus on high availability, security, and scalability. You'll take responsibility for your team's operational excellence by establishing monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting to support on-call efforts and keep critical systems running reliably. You'll collaborate across product management, design, and analytics throughout the development lifecycle—participating in ideation, articulating technical constraints, and partnering on decisions that balance risks and trade-offs. This role requires deep expertise in building resilient, trustworthy financial systems. Required qualifications include proficiency in backend languages like Java or Go, experience with relational and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, Redis), familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), understanding of RESTful APIs and microservices, and strong debugging skills. Preferred experience includes 3+ years in payments, billing, or fintech; deep knowledge of payment processing lifecycles (authorization, capture, settlement, reconciliation); direct experience with payment gateways (Stripe, Adyen, PayPal); expertise architecting large-scale, fault-tolerant distributed systems handling financial data; and knowledge of fraud detection and risk management systems. Atoms is headquartered in New York with a five-day-per-week in-office requirement. Base salary ranges from $145,000–$183,250 annually, with equity awards and performance-based bonuses also available.
