Liftoff is an AI-powered performance marketing platform for the mobile app economy, serving over 6,600 mobile businesses across 74 countries. The company processes 1.5 billion ML inferences per second and is building a next-generation ML platform to support neural networks at scale.
As a Software Engineer on the Machine Learning Data Platform team, you will design, engineer, and implement reliable, scalable, and cost-efficient systems supporting the entire ML infrastructure stack: data lake infrastructure, dataset generation, model training infrastructure, analytics, reporting, and monitoring. You'll work alongside experienced ML, Software, and Infrastructure Engineers to deliver business results by enabling next-generation ML models and technologies.
You will utilize a mix of vendor-based products (AWS, Weights & Biases), open-source technologies (PyTorch, PySpark, Trino, Hive, Iceberg, ClickHouse), and in-house tooling to solve large-scale problems.
Required qualifications include 6+ years of industry experience with very strong coding ability in Python and Golang, solid core CS fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, systems architecture), and demonstrated ability to ship quality work in fast-paced environments. Experience with Spark, high-growth startups, and ML platform/tooling development is highly valued.
The role is hybrid, requiring 2 days per week in Bay Area offices (Redwood City or San Francisco), with quarterly in-person team gatherings expected. Base salary for SF Bay Area: $180,000–$230,000, plus equity and comprehensive benefits.
