Overland AI, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Seattle, is transforming land operations for modern defense through advanced robotics and machine learning. The company has developed OverDrive, an autonomy stack enabling ground vehicles to navigate and operate off-road in any terrain without GPS or direct operator control, and OverWatch, an intuitive command-and-control interface for mission coordination. Backed by prominent defense tech investors including 8VC and Point 72, with partnerships across DARPA, the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, and Special Operations Command, Overland AI is executing eight-figure Department of Defense contracts. As a Software Engineer in Mission Autonomy, you will build software that enables a single operator to coordinate multiple autonomous platforms and achieve mission objectives. You will develop mission-level intelligence that complements platform-level vehicle intelligence, translating high-level operator intent into coordinated, adaptable behaviors across teams of assets. Key responsibilities include: developing AI-powered orchestration functionality for multi-robot execution; leveraging Overland AI's expertise in off-road navigation to create terrain-aware mission planning capabilities; designing interfaces to pass task and status information between centralized mission software and individual assets; integrating new vehicle types (both company-developed and third-party) into the Mission Autonomy framework; and rapidly prototyping software solutions for user feedback to inform longer-term development. The ideal candidate has a strong robotics software background with experience in planning and multi-robot coordination, thrives on rapidly integrating new platforms and technologies, and is excited to push the boundaries of autonomy capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge defense technology with direct impact on national security and tactical operations.
