FlixBus is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Pricing Services team within the Demand Division. This role focuses on building and maintaining distributed, scalable pricing services that power dynamic pricing and revenue management across the FlixBus platform.
You will design, build, and maintain responsive, resilient, message-driven systems using PHP, Golang, and AWS services. The work emphasizes high availability and fault tolerance in a pricing-critical context. You'll navigate and contribute meaningfully to a large, complex codebase while applying clean code principles and thoughtful refactoring.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and building distributed pricing services and tools used by multiple systems
- Actively participating in pair programming, mob programming, and code reviews to foster shared ownership
- Supporting, maintaining, and improving existing services while identifying reliability, performance, and scalability bottlenecks
- Leveraging AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to enhance productivity and code quality
- Co-creating high-value products in close collaboration with stakeholders across Marketplace, Search, Ancillaries, and the Booking funnel
- Translating business needs into well-defined technical solutions through stakeholder engagement
- Contributing to backlog refinement and prioritization aligned with strategic product goals
- Balancing engineering quality with delivery pace through transparent trade-off decisions
- Participating in on-call rotation alongside the engineering team
Required qualifications include 4+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong, production-grade PHP skills. You should have demonstrated experience with platform or API products in distributed microservices environments, hands-on experience with message streaming (Kafka or similar), Kubernetes, RESTful/HTTP APIs, and AWS services. You must be comfortable working in large, established codebases and possess strong communication skills with experience in stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration. Product-mindedness and familiarity with AI-assisted development practices are important. Knowledge of Revenue Management Systems architecture or pricing platform concepts is a plus.
