Salary: USD 122,400 - 176,000 / annual
Mercury is a fintech platform providing banking, treasury, and financial workflow solutions for startups and technology companies. You'll join the team building Command, Mercury's LLM-powered financial assistant that launched to all customers in June 2026. Command enables users to understand their finances and take action in plain language—from cash flow inquiries to payments, card issuance, and invoice management.
In this role, you'll ship new capabilities that users love, taking strong product ownership and actively seeking responsibility to help design and ship new Command skills. You'll partner closely with product and compliance teams to define what "working correctly" means for each new capability, then build the tests that prove it works. You'll join a small, experienced team of product and AI engineers building the future of Mercury's financial interfaces.
This is a dynamic role in a scrappy startup environment where priorities shift as the team learns. You should be comfortable working in ambiguity and excited about the opportunity to evolve an AI-powered product in motion.
**Requirements:**
- 1–4 years of backend or full-stack development experience
- Knowledge of or excitement to learn: Haskell, React, TypeScript, and Redux
- Experience building LLM-powered products
- Product-minded builder with a track record of building and shipping new products
- User empathy and ability to channel customer perspective into lovable products
- Ability to balance tradeoffs and find creative solutions
- Active incorporation of AI tools into your workflow and excitement about leveraging them to amplify impact (accelerating development, improving code quality, solving hard problems)
