Arena is a platform for evaluating how AI models perform in real-world scenarios, founded by researchers from UC Berkeley's SkyLab. The company powers transparent, human-centered evaluations used by tens of millions monthly, with data relied upon by leading AI labs, enterprises, and independent researchers. You will own Arena's public web surfaces end-to-end: the blog, marketing pages, and the leaderboard UI that millions use to evaluate AI model performance. Responsibilities include building and maintaining the Arena blog using Next.js and Sanity CMS, including content models and publishing workflows; developing marketing pages (product, features, resources, careers, campaigns) within the design system; improving the public leaderboard frontend with tables, charts, filters, and data visualization; optimizing for Core Web Vitals, SEO, structured data, and internationalization; and creating CMS models and internal tools enabling marketing and content teams to ship independently. You bring 6+ years of software engineering with substantial production frontend experience. Your portfolio demonstrates high-craft public pages—marketing sites, content platforms, or data-dense product UIs. You have deep expertise in React, TypeScript, Next.js, and CSS, capable of implementing complex layouts, motion, and responsive design with precision. You possess enough full-stack capability to work in a product codebase: reading APIs, extending routes, and understanding request lifecycles (though you are not a backend specialist). You communicate clearly with designers, marketers, and engineers, defending tradeoffs to non-technical stakeholders. You have a track record of shipping and iterating, able to articulate what you owned, post-launch outcomes, and subsequent changes. You demonstrate genuine curiosity about AI evaluation and Arena's mission. Bonus qualifications include headless CMS experience (Sanity, Contentful), leaderboard or data visualization work, SEO and Core Web Vitals optimization, animation libraries (Motion, GSAP, CSS), and experience shipping without a dedicated PM. Tech stack: Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind, ShadCN, Sanity CMS, HonoJS. The role is based in the Bay Area with a small, mission-driven team of researchers, academics, and builders from UC Berkeley, Google, Stanford, and DeepMind.
