Salary: USD 166,000 - 220,000 / annual
Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced autonomous systems, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology. The Maritime Division has assembled a diverse team of experts in software, robotics, artificial intelligence, and sensor fusion to create software and hardware solutions for autonomous maritime operations. The division is fielding next-generation autonomous systems including ultra-long-range, full-ocean-depth underwater vessel platforms and flexible manufacturing architectures scaling from small to extra-large vehicle sizes. Current products include Dive-XL, Dive-LD, Copperhead, and Seabed Sentry, with billion-dollar contracts in execution and Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) AUV operations underway.
As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the delivery of software integrated into autonomous maritime products, including autonomy, simulation, data processing, payload integration, and off-board command and control systems. You will demonstrate end-to-end outcome ownership of projects, contributing as a team member to the rapid architecting, design, delivery, support, and evolution of next-generation autonomous platforms through their entire product lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include: empathizing with end-users and driving solutions that balance their needs with external constraints in a multi-stakeholder environment; owning software-enabled solutions deployed to customers, optimizing for value delivery; implementing software that rapidly delivers capability beyond current platform scope with clear architecture and capability evolution paths; contributing to development of reusable software services across Anduril product lines; developing software for both on-board and off-board robotic platforms using various technologies; developing and iteratively enhancing vehicle and mission software including full lifecycle testing, monitoring, and operation; creating test and simulation fixtures with software- and hardware-in-the-loop capabilities; supporting vehicle manufacturing and deployment; working within multi-disciplinary engineering teams; and traveling up to 20% of the time to co-locate with end-users and other teams.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Robotics, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant field, or equivalent experience
- Professional experience working as a Software Engineer with one or more domains and/or technologies of competence
- Systems and/or application programming skills including algorithms, data structures, concurrency, scaling, testing, and software design
- Experience troubleshooting and analyzing remotely deployed software systems
- Capacity to work holistically on software-enabled capabilities up and down the software stack through design, implementation, operation, and sustainment
- Capacity to learn and grow rapidly, building personal and team capacity to the standard of Senior Software Engineer
- Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience in delivery of military mission systems
- Experience writing backend services or embedded software in C++, Rust, and/or Go
- Experience writing frontend applications using TypeScript and React
- Experience with implementation and operation of horizontally scaled cloud technologies
- Experience with implementation and support of embedded software, particularly in robotics
- Experience with modeling and simulation
- Experience with development of high-assurance safety-critical software
- Experience within product delivery lifecycle including manufacturing, system acceptance, deployment, and sustainment
- Familiarity with Systems Engineering concepts
