Aurora is building self-driving technology for commercial transportation. The Mapping Infrastructure Team is responsible for two critical systems: the Aurora Atlas (a versioned HD mapping system supporting continuous editing, validation, simulation, and vehicle release processes) and the Fleet Intelligence system (a dynamic map delivering real-time data to vehicles including unexpected signs, weather events, and map anomalies). As a Software Engineer on this team, you will design, develop, and maintain scalable backend infrastructure and data processing pipelines for storing and serving map data as Aurora expands commercial deployment. You'll establish robust testing and performance optimization practices to ensure system stability and scalability. You'll partner closely with internal and external customers to influence existing and future designs. The role requires 4+ years building server-side and data processing systems with deep understanding of distributed systems principles. You must have strong experience with cloud-native technologies (AWS, GCP, Kubernetes) and production-level software development in C++ or Go. Experience with geospatial data, mapping systems, or high-throughput data pipelines is desirable. This is an ideal fit for engineers energized by challenging problems at the intersection of scalable backend systems, data versioning, and cross-team collaboration.
