Chainguard is building the trusted source for open-source software, delivering hardened, secure, production-ready builds of open-source libraries that engineers and AI agents rely on. You'll join the Libraries Platform team as a Senior Software Engineer, leading the architecture and implementation of the secure, reliable factory that continuously builds, verifies, and serves open-source libraries across multiple ecosystems (Java, JavaScript, Python/AI/ML). This is an infrastructure-centric, platform role focused on invisible, reliable systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement core platform components: services, pipelines, and package indexes powering secure, reproducible build and distribution workflows
- Build automation for artifact creation, updates, and verification including vulnerability scanning, remediation, SBOM/provenance generation, and policy enforcement
- Develop novel patch generation capabilities, including AI-assisted patching with comprehensive testing and verification
- Build and operate shared platform services (package indexes, registry mirrors, metadata services, orchestration tooling) serving external customers and internal teams
- Develop internal developer tools and CLIs (primarily Go) for building, testing, and shipping libraries at scale
- Drive reliability, scalability, and observability: define SLOs, build monitoring/alerting, lead incident response
- Solve complex production issues spanning toolchains, compilers, CI/CD flakiness, and registry edge cases
- Partner with ecosystem teams, Platform, Delivery, Security, and Sustaining to ensure platform meets reliability and security requirements
- Mentor engineers through design reviews, documentation, and hands-on debugging
