Chime's Lending organization builds products and platforms that provide members with fair, transparent access to credit and liquidity. This includes Earned Wage Access (MyPay), flexible overdraft (SpotMe), and Instant Loans, along with the underlying infrastructure for credit decisions, funding, repayments, and servicing.
As a Software Engineer in Lending, you'll work at the intersection of member-facing products and the platforms that power them. This role is designed for engineers who want broader scope beyond a single service or feature. You'll lead technical initiatives that span products, platforms, and partner teams, shaping how the Lending system evolves.
Key responsibilities include:
- Independently own and deliver features end-to-end
- Design, develop, test, refactor, and scale backend implementations for consumer product features
- Build resilient APIs that power the member-facing mobile app
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Design, Risk, Data Science, Analytics, Finance, Operations) to understand member pain points and develop solutions
- Design backend systems where correctness, reliability, speed, and operational rigor are critical
- Influence technical direction across team boundaries and raise engineering standards
The Lending org operates consequential systems including real-time money movement, decisioning infrastructure, underwriting and eligibility, ledgering and reconciliation, capital markets workflows, and financial transactions that must be correct, resilient, and auditable. You'll work in a fast-paced fintech environment that values thoughtful design, strong engineering judgment, high-quality code, and operational excellence. The team actively uses AI to improve quality, speed, and leverage.
