DeepL is seeking a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join the Media Translation team, the core of their AI-powered translation platform. You will own end-to-end product features across DeepL's flagship translation products, from the consumer web translator to the Enterprise Customization Hub (Glossaries, Translation Memory, Style Rules) and multimedia localization workflows. Your responsibilities include architecting and building complex user-facing features that balance consumer-grade simplicity with enterprise-grade power. You will engineer backend systems to parse and translate complex document formats (PDF, Word, PowerPoint) while preserving formatting, integrate DeepL into enterprise workflows, and make high-stakes technical decisions around state management, API integrations, and performance. You'll collaborate closely with Research, Product, and Design teams to translate AI constraints into intuitive UX, and help build transparency and performance metrics directly into the product. The role emphasizes a "Product-First" mindset: you care deeply about user adoption and friction reduction, not just code metrics. You're a full-stack engineer with backend strengths, hands-on experience in C# and Python, and comfort with JavaScript-based frontend work. You have high agency, bias for action, and think systemically about UI/UX complexity—understanding how simple interfaces hide massive backend systems. You leverage AI-powered tools like GitHub Copilot to accelerate velocity and focus cognitive energy on high-value architectural decisions. Bonus experience includes visual/image processing for document analysis, OCR, document layout understanding, legacy enterprise system integration (SAP), or B2C + enterprise product building. DeepL operates a Unified Engineering Pipeline and hires for the company, not just specific teams.
