Twilio is seeking a Staff Engineer to own the architecture, implementation, and long-term technical direction of the Voice and Video Android SDKs. This is a high-impact role where you'll shape the developer experience for thousands of customers relying on Twilio's communication infrastructure. Key responsibilities include: - Owning the Android SDK architecture and technical roadmap for Voice and Video capabilities - Leading development and maintenance of Android SDKs, including WebRTC, ReSiprocate, and C++ layers - Driving build pipeline stability and CI/CD migration efforts - Defining Android best practices and serving as the organization's Android authority - Collaborating with iOS, JavaScript, and React Native teams on cross-platform alignment - Conducting code reviews and maintaining high quality and test coverage standards - Partnering with product and platform teams on feasibility assessment and roadmap delivery - Contributing to knowledge sharing and documentation to eliminate single points of failure - Monitoring and triaging customer issues and GitHub repository issues - Enhancing automated tests and customer reference applications Required qualifications: - 10+ years of software engineering experience with strong Android development focus - Deep expertise in Android ecosystem and SDK development - Proficiency in Java/Kotlin and C++ - Experience with real-time communication technologies (WebRTC, SIP, RTP) strongly preferred - Familiarity with CI/CD systems (CircleCI, Buildkite, GitHub Actions) and mobile build pipelines - Strong communication skills and ability to articulate technical decisions to diverse audiences - Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence without authority - Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to collaborative team culture - Familiarity with Claude and GitHub Copilot Twilio is a remote-first company with a strong culture of connection and global inclusion. While remote, you may be asked to report in person on an ad-hoc basis for team gatherings, functional off-sites, or customer meetings.
