Twilio is seeking a Software Engineer L2 to join the Comms Engineering team, responsible for building and maintaining the communications platform used by thousands of customers worldwide. This role focuses on designing, developing, deploying, and operating software solutions at scale for messaging APIs and backend services.
Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining software that powers Twilio's communications infrastructure; collaborating with a small, cross-functional team on backend services and API design; performing thorough code reviews to maintain high code quality standards; supporting production operations including building, releasing, and participating in on-call rotations; and creating clear, concise technical documentation.
The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science (or equivalent experience) and strong proficiency in Go or Java. Required skills include strong written and verbal communication abilities, with the capacity to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and the ability to participate in on-call rotations.
Desired qualifications include experience with NoSQL databases (DynamoDB), cloud platforms (AWS), containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes), polyglot programming across multiple languages and frameworks, and familiarity with Temporal workflow orchestration.
This is a fully remote position within the US (excluding San Francisco Bay Area, Oakland, and San Jose). While remote-first, occasional travel may be required for team gatherings, functional off-sites, or customer meetings.
