As a Software Engineer in Trade Services, you will own the core execution engine of Bitpanda's trading platform. Your mission is to build and scale the high-throughput, financially critical backbone that powers every trade on the platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Designing and developing scalable, resilient, message-driven services using Java to handle offers, trade requests, and money movement
- Writing clean, future-proof code with 80%+ unit test coverage and conducting thorough end-to-end and integration testing before deployment into an event-driven microservices architecture
- Optimizing execution flows for core trading modules including fee calculation, order execution, ledger writing, and wallet synchronization to ensure reliability, maintainability, performance, and scalability
- Researching and adopting latest trends and technologies in backend development to keep core trading and ledger applications cutting-edge
Required qualifications:
- Strong software development experience using modern frameworks such as Spring Boot, with Java as your primary programming language
- Understanding of relational and non-relational databases (PostgreSQL and MongoDB experience preferred)
- Experience creating and maintaining publicly available REST APIs with strong performance optimization and scalability knowledge
- Deep hands-on experience with message-oriented middleware in event-driven microservices (Apache Kafka or ZeroMQ preferred)
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices and public cloud platforms (AWS and Kubernetes ideal)
