In this role, you will join Bitpanda's Trade Hub as a Software Engineer focused on asset systems. You will design, build, and scale core systems powering the trading ecosystem end-to-end—from pricing and execution to portfolio lifecycle, asset infrastructure, hedging, and prime services. Your work will involve highly available, low-latency, financially critical backend services handling order flow, market data, risk management, balances, and exposure management at scale. Key responsibilities include: - Design and develop scalable, resilient, message-driven services using Java 25 and Micronaut - Write clean, maintainable code with 80% unit test coverage, including end-to-end and integration testing before deployment into event-driven microservices architecture - Optimize payment modules and services for reliability, maintainability, performance, and scalability - Drive innovation by researching and adopting latest trends in backend development - Collaborate with product, quantitative, risk, and trading stakeholders to deliver resilient systems You will work on new-age tech projects, tackle architectural and conceptual challenges, integrate with third-party vendors, and collaborate with engineers across teams. Required qualifications: - 4+ years of software development experience with modern frameworks (Micronaut/Spring Boot), Java as primary language - Understanding of relational and non-relational databases (Postgres, MongoDB preferred) - Experience creating and maintaining REST APIs with performance optimization and scalability focus - Practical knowledge of message-oriented middleware for event-driven microservices (Apache Kafka or ZeroMQ ideal) - CI/CD familiarity; AWS and Kubernetes experience ideal, but any public cloud experience acceptable The role offers hybrid flexibility with 25 additional days per year to work remotely from any location, competitive compensation aligned with impact, stock options, mental health support, and enhanced paid time off.
