Voyager Space is seeking a Principal Edge Software Architect to define and lead the software architecture strategy across multiple defense and space technology product lines. This is a high-impact technical leadership role focused on edge computing, heterogeneous computing (CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs), and open architecture principles (SOSA/MOSA).
You will be responsible for establishing modular, hardware-agnostic software architectures that maximize code reuse and ensure strict separation of concerns across projects. You'll oversee the implementation of complex signal processing and system autonomy algorithms, driving the transition of prototypes into programs of record. Your technical leadership will guide senior engineers in GPGPU best practices, modern DevSecOps adoption, and agile development cycles.
Key responsibilities include defining system-level performance budgets (latency, thermal, SWaP constraints) and architecting software solutions that maximize embedded GPU utility in resource-constrained environments. You'll engage directly with government and commercial customers, articulating the value of open software approaches and ensuring designs meet evolving standards.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering; U.S. citizenship (required for DoD security clearance); 7-10 years of software engineering design experience with proven track record leading engineering teams through full development lifecycles; strong technical communication skills for internal and government stakeholder presentations; ability to obtain and maintain DoD clearance (active clearance preferred).
Preferred: Master's degree in Computer Science or Engineering; experience optimizing software for SWaP-constrained environments; open-source project contributions.
