Beacon AI is building an AI platform to enhance flight safety, efficiency, and capability for aviation. The company is backed by top investors, holds a dozen Department of Defense contracts, and partners with major airlines to deliver mission-critical systems.
As an iOS Software Engineer, you will develop high-impact iOS applications supporting the flight safety platform, with a focus on health monitoring and data visualization for flight crew. You'll work closely with senior engineers and designers to create user-facing features that integrate wearable technology and real-time health monitoring.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement iOS features using Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit, and modern iOS frameworks
- Build health and fitness-focused mobile applications integrating with HealthKit and wearable devices
- Structure complex, data-rich UIs that visualize large streams of health and biometric data intuitively
- Design and build charts and data displays that are both functional and visually polished
- Integrate with wearable hardware to support real-time health monitoring for flight crew
- Apply data security and privacy best practices including Keychain, encrypted storage, and secure handling of sensitive health data
- Collaborate with senior engineers and designers to deliver precise, reliable, and visually compelling mobile experiences
- Participate in code reviews and follow established iOS best practices
- Ensure code quality, performance, and maintainability through testing and documentation
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years of iOS application development experience
- Proficiency with Swift and SwiftUI; exposure to UIKit and common iOS frameworks
- Hands-on experience with HealthKit and building fitness or health wearable applications
- Strong design sensibility and ability to structure complex UIs
- Experience building charts, dashboards, or data visualizations in iOS
- Understanding of iOS data security and privacy practices
- Familiarity with asynchronous programming (async/await, multithreading, GCD)
- Strong problem-solving skills and collaborative mindset
Bonus experience includes passion for aviation, safety-critical systems work, navigation/flight frameworks, CI/CD workflows, and real-time data/sensor systems.
This is a hybrid role based in San Carlos, CA, requiring 3+ days per week onsite with flexibility for remote work on remaining days.
