Speechify is a text-to-speech platform used by over 50 million people to convert PDFs, books, Google Docs, articles, and websites into audio. The company recently earned Apple's 2025 Design Award for inclusivity and was named Chrome Extension of the Year by Google. With ~200 employees globally in a fully distributed setting, Speechify is hiring a Senior iOS Engineer to support rapid growth of its iOS app, currently ranked #18 in the App Store's productivity category.
In this role, you will lead key engineering and product decisions for the iOS platform, actively ship production code, and work within a dedicated product team to shape the roadmap. You'll maintain and enhance the complex app architecture while participating in strategic product discussions. This is ideal for someone who thinks strategically, thrives in fast-paced environments, and is passionate about making thoughtful product decisions that delight users.
You should have a proven track record shipping products that scaled to large user bases, from inception through traction. Experience engineering products end-to-end is essential. You must be customer-obsessed, thinking deeply about user experience, and capable of making quick decisions about what ships now versus what needs more time. Strong technical fundamentals in Swift and SwiftUI are required, along with experience in multithreading, CI/CD infrastructure, Fastlane, SOLID principles, and Git workflows.
Speechify operates as a flat organization where excellent technical skills and consistent delivery create leadership opportunities. The company values work ethic, solid communication, and a winning mentality. The interview process includes several technical rounds, typically completed within one week. You'll work on a product that directly impacts millions of users, including people with dyslexia, ADD, low vision, autism, and second-language learners—making a tangible difference in accessibility and learning.
