Speechify is a text-to-speech platform used by over 50 million people to convert PDFs, books, Google Docs, articles, and websites into audio. The company recently earned Apple's 2025 Design Award for inclusivity and Google's Chrome Extension of the Year. With ~200 employees across a fully distributed, asynchronous organization, Speechify is hiring a Senior iOS Engineer to lead development on its iOS app, currently ranked #18 in the App Store's productivity category.
In this role, you will actively ship production code for the Speechify iOS app while leading key engineering and product decisions. You'll work within a dedicated product team, participate in roadmap discussions, and maintain the app's complex architecture. The position offers significant autonomy to shape product direction and influence technical strategy in a flat organization where strong technical execution and results drive advancement.
You should have a proven track record shipping products that scaled to large user bases, from inception through traction. Experience engineering products end-to-end is essential. You must be deeply customer-obsessed, think strategically about product evolution, and move quickly to prioritize what ships now versus what needs more time. The role demands strong communication, focus in a fast-paced remote environment, and the ability to engage or work independently as needed.
Required technical skills include Swift, SwiftUI, multithreading programming, CI/CD infrastructure, Fastlane, SOLID principles, and Git workflows. You'll join a team of engineers from Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Stanford, and high-growth startups like Stripe and Vercel, working on the intersection of AI and audio to support users with learning differences including dyslexia, ADD, low vision, autism, and second-language learners.
