Speechify is a text-to-speech platform used by over 50 million people to convert PDFs, books, Google Docs, news articles, and websites into audio. The company recently earned Apple's 2025 Design Award for inclusivity and was named Chrome Extension of the Year by Google. With ~200 employees distributed globally and no physical offices, Speechify is hiring a Senior iOS Engineer to support growth of its iOS app (currently the #18 productivity app in the App Store) and develop new features aligned with the company's mission to remove reading as a barrier to learning.
In this role, you will actively ship production code for the Speechify iOS app, lead key engineering and product decisions, work within a dedicated product team, participate in product discussions to shape the roadmap, and maintain the existing complex app architecture. You'll have the opportunity to influence product direction and work on features that directly impact millions of users, many of whom have learning differences like dyslexia, ADD, low vision, autism, and second-language learners.
The ideal candidate has experience scaling products to large user bases, a track record of shipping products from inception through traction, strong product thinking, and the ability to move quickly in a high-growth startup environment. You should be customer-obsessed, focused, and able to balance shipping velocity with thoughtful technical decisions. Required technical skills include Swift, SwiftUI, multithreading programming, CI/CD infrastructure, Fastlane, SOLID principles, and Git.
