Speechify is a text-to-speech platform used by over 50 million people to convert PDFs, books, Google Docs, articles, and websites into audio. The company was recently named Chrome Extension of the Year by Google and App of the Day by Apple, and won Apple's 2025 Design Award for inclusivity. With ~200 employees globally in a fully distributed setting, Speechify is hiring a Senior iOS Engineer to support growth of its iOS app (currently the #18 productivity app in the App Store) and develop new features aligned with the company's mission to make reading never a barrier to learning.
In this role, you will actively ship production code for the Speechify iOS app, lead key engineering and product decisions, work within a dedicated product team, participate in product discussions to shape the roadmap, and maintain the existing complex app architecture. You'll have the opportunity to influence product strategy and work on features that directly impact millions of users, many of whom have learning differences like dyslexia, ADD, low vision, autism, and second language learners.
You should have a track record of shipping products from inception to scale, experience working on apps that reached large user bases, and strong product thinking skills. Technical requirements include proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI, multithreading programming, CI/CD infrastructure, Fastlane, SOLID principles, and Git workflows. The ideal candidate is customer-obsessed, works quickly, maintains focus in a fast-paced remote environment, and is passionate about making product decisions that delight users.
Speechify operates as a flat organization where anyone can become a leader by demonstrating excellent technical skills and delivering results consistently and fast. The company values work ethic, solid communication, and obsession with winning. You'll work alongside engineers from Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Stanford PhD programs, and high-growth startups like Stripe, Vercel, and Bolt.
