Cogent Security is an Applied AI Lab building next-generation AI agents for cybersecurity. The company's "AI Taskforce" assesses petabytes of enterprise data to remediate security issues before critical breaches occur, partnering with Fortune 500 companies to secure complex production environments.
As a Senior Infrastructure Engineer, you'll join a small, fast-growing Core Platform pod (infrastructure, security, and compliance) at an early-stage company backed by Greylock and Bain Capital Ventures. This is a high-ownership role requiring hands-on expertise across multiple infrastructure domains.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and optimizing the data platform with focus on storage-level optimizations across Clickhouse and Postgres
- Making the product deployable on-premises to unlock large customer onboarding and seven-figure accounts
- Hardening security systems
- Building an agent-first infrastructure and platform layer to support AI agents in product development
- Driving large-scale infrastructure projects end-to-end across multiple stakeholders
You'll need 5-7 years of software engineering experience with deep core infrastructure expertise and strong hands-on coding. Required skills include hands-on AWS experience, Clickhouse Cloud at the serving layer, real depth in Spark and micro-batching, and experience building in an AI-forward capacity with agentic coding fundamentals. A startup or early-stage background (up to ~200 people) is essential, ideally blended with large-company experience.
Bonus qualifications include prior startup founder experience, API gateway auth experience with Envoy or Istio, GCP and Azure experience, SRE strength with agent-forward operationalization, and familiarity with Hashicorp Vault, MicroVM (Runloop), and SPIFFE/SPIRE for agent identity.
