Outtake is building an agentic AI platform that detects, monitors, and removes impersonators and fraudulent content at scale. Founded by ex-Palantir, ex-CTO/founders, and ex-Notion engineers, the company is backed by top-tier investors and focused on becoming the trust layer of the modern internet. This is a staff-level infrastructure generalist role responsible for setting technical direction across Outtake's infrastructure systems. The role begins as an individual contributor position with the expectation of growing and leading infrastructure teams as the function scales. Key responsibilities include: - Setting technical direction for infrastructure across databases, search and retrieval, data processing, asynchronous execution, and cloud architecture - Redesigning search and retrieval systems to support fast investigation across billions of content pieces - Evolving relational database architecture through sharding, partitioning, indexing, caching, and new data-access patterns - Owning application and infrastructure changes required for safe migrations of live systems - Designing and building scalable asynchronous systems for scheduling, queues, workflows, retries, backpressure, and failure recovery - Building data infrastructure for high-volume ingestion, streaming, batch processing, enrichment, and reprocessing - Developing shared infrastructure services, APIs, libraries, and primitives for product engineers - Owning cloud foundations including compute, storage, networking, isolation, resource management, and deployment architecture - Evaluating build-versus-buy decisions and making tradeoffs across latency, throughput, consistency, durability, cost, and complexity - Operating systems you build, using production evidence to improve architecture, and automating operational work - Writing technical proposals, establishing architectural standards, and guiding engineers through complex systems decisions Required experience includes: staff-level scope with ability to identify important technical problems and set direction across team boundaries; designing and building distributed infrastructure systems; scaling production systems through significant increases in data volume or traffic; deep knowledge of relational database architecture; experience building high-throughput asynchronous systems; experience with large-scale search and retrieval systems; and experience with ingestion, streaming, or batch-processing systems for large data volumes. Outtake offers 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage, flexible PTO, and regular in-person events. The team works in-person from a waterfront office in Brooklyn (5 days/week with flexibility as needed), prioritizing collaboration, speed, and clarity.
