Neo4j is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Aura Infrastructure team, responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the core cloud and Kubernetes infrastructure powering Neo4j's managed graph database platform. The role combines software development and infrastructure engineering, welcoming candidates from both operational and development backgrounds.
Key responsibilities include designing and implementing processes, tools, and documentation to improve core cloud infrastructure; collaborating with teammates and product managers to prioritize and build features; handling day-to-day operations; building resilient, high-availability cloud infrastructure across GCP, AWS, and Azure; investigating operational issues and developing automated solutions; and supporting a 24/7/365 service environment.
You will work with managed Kubernetes platforms (GKE, EKS, AKS), compute orchestration (Cluster Autoscaler, Karpenter), cloud networking and storage (CSI drivers), logging infrastructure (FluentBit, Google Cloud Logging), and security systems. The team currently manages over 800 Kubernetes clusters in production, using a mix of custom Kubernetes operators, open-source tooling, and infrastructure-as-code.
Required qualifications include expertise in one or more cloud service providers (AWS, GCP, Azure); production software development experience in Go or similar languages; hands-on Kubernetes production experience with understanding of core resources (Pods, Deployments, DaemonSets, StatefulSets, PVCs, PVs) and the operator pattern; infrastructure-as-code experience (Terraform, Crossplane, Config Connector, AWS Controllers for Kubernetes, Azure Service Operator); and solid understanding of VMs, Linux, networking, and storage.
