Salary: USD 143,800 - 231,900 / annual
Camunda is hiring a Software Engineer for Infrastructure to join the Self-Managed domain, which owns the full software development lifecycle of self-managed product artifacts. You'll work on everything from the getting started experience to production deployments and day-2 operations.
In this role, you'll build, maintain, and release C8 distributions for self-managed customers, covering Helm Charts (Kubernetes), C8Run, Docker Compose, and related documentation. You'll improve the reliability and usability of deployment artifacts, ensuring a seamless experience from local setups to production clusters. You'll collaborate cross-functionally with Development Teams, Product Management, Quality Assurance, Documentation, and Support to deliver integrated, tested, and documented releases.
You'll handle engineering-level support cases with the support team to understand customer issues and feed learnings back into development. A key part of the role is driving documentation and onboarding improvements—turning complex systems into clear, accessible instructions that help customers succeed faster.
The Distribution team currently consists of 1 Senior and 3 Mid-level Software Engineers, operating with a strong manager-of-one mindset and cross-team collaboration.
Success in the first three months means taking on your first medic and support tickets to understand the stack and customer challenges, improving onboarding and documentation based on your own learning experience, contributing to artifact fixes and CI/CD enhancements, delivering one structural improvement initiative, and establishing strong working relationships with engineering, QA, and product peers.
You bring strong expertise in building, operating, and maintaining Helm Charts; deploying applications on Kubernetes; implementing CI/CD pipelines with GitHub Actions; and managing infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform). You're able to create clear technical documentation and communicate effectively across teams. You have a pragmatic and autonomous approach to programming and problem-solving, and you thrive as a manager of one—you build it, you own it.
Nice-to-haves include experience running and operating on-prem/self-hosted software on Docker, familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry, or similar observability tools, and working knowledge of Go.
