Salary: USD 133,000 - 181,000 / annual
Shippo is building the shipping layer of the internet—a logistics technology platform that connects merchants to carriers worldwide through a single API and intuitive dashboard. The company is remote-first and globally distributed.
You will join the WebApp - Lighthouse team as a Software Engineer III, working on a rapidly expanding business that optimizes customer experience in shipping and fulfillment. You'll be responsible for building and maintaining Shippo's front platform to deliver optimal experiences to customers.
Key Responsibilities:
• System Design & Development: Build and maintain full-stack web application features including scalable, distributed microservices.
• Technical Leadership: Own complex features from technical design to production deployment, adhering to high-performance and reliability standards.
• Engineering Excellence: Enhance and support the core web application stack, ensuring performance and accuracy for high-throughput traffic.
• Operational Health: Participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot production incidents, and maintain high SLAs.
• Collaboration & Mentorship: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Infrastructure, Design, API Partners) and set high engineering standards.
• Infrastructure: Improve CI/CD pipelines, container-based software distribution (Docker, Kubernetes), and observability.
You will work alongside highly talented engineers and partner with product managers and designers to deliver features that meet customer demands. You'll stay connected to customer impact and contribute to decisions that balance technical quality with user experience.
Requirements:
• Minimum 7+ years of software development experience
• Experience building and maintaining highly available, scalable web applications
• Proficiency in programming languages and frameworks commonly used in full-stack development on distributed systems (e.g., React, Python, Go, Kafka, SQL, NoSQL)
• Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented programming, and design patterns
• Experience with AI-assisted development workflow
• Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders across different organizations
• Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams
• BSc in a STEM field, with a preference for computer science and software engineering
