ID.me is seeking a Software Engineer III to join the Developer Portal team, building the self-service platform that enables organizations to rapidly integrate ID.me's identity proofing capabilities.
The Developer Portal simplifies how external developers register applications, configure identity requirements, test in sandbox environments, and launch to production. Today much of this onboarding is manual; the mission is to automate and self-serve the entire experience.
This is a backend-leaning full-stack role. You will design and build the services, APIs, and data models powering the portal—application registration, authorization, and developer-facing APIs that customers integrate against. You'll also ship user-facing surfaces in Next.js and React, taking features end-to-end from concept to production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and implement Developer Portal capabilities end-to-end: API contract design, database schema, frontend integration, and deployment
- Own data models and REST API contracts, making deliberate decisions about backwards compatibility and versioning
- Build secure capabilities spanning OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, enterprise SSO, multi-tenant authorization, relationship-based access control, session management, and credential management
- Partner with Product, Design, Architecture, and platform teams to clarify requirements and surface risks early
- Coordinate across teams to land features safely and grow technical ownership of systems you build
Tech stack: Backend services primarily Java (Spring Boot) with legacy Ruby services; frontend is a micro-frontend platform built with Next.js, React, and TypeScript. Ruby experience is welcome but not required.
Position is based in Mountain View, CA office, five days per week.
