Aurora is building self-driving technology to transform mobility and logistics. The Vehicle Platform Integrations team is seeking a Software Engineer II to develop infrastructure that integrates embedded software with Aurora's modern C++ autonomy stack.
In this role, you will work on critical systems that directly influence the on-road behavior of autonomous vehicles. Your responsibilities include developing fault monitoring and health monitoring systems for vehicle platforms, integrating autonomy planning and control software with embedded layer software and vehicle platform commands, and creating software that manages mode of operation and fault management.
You will interact across multiple technical layers: autonomy planning/control, embedded systems, and vehicle platform interfaces. You'll develop tools to automate testing and analysis of control subsystems to meet safety-critical coverage standards, work with hardware-in-the-loop and vehicle system-level testing, and develop in Linux-based and embedded environments.
Required qualifications include 3+ years of applied industry experience in software development using modern robotics frameworks, proficiency in C++ and C for embedded applications, knowledge of software architecture design best practices, familiarity with communication technologies (CAN, TCP, UDP), and working knowledge of software analysis and testing tools.
Desirable experience includes work in regulated, safety-critical environments, autonomous vehicles or robotics, and control systems in automotive, aerospace, or similar domains.
Aurora operates a hybrid work environment with at least 3 days per week in office. The company emphasizes collaboration, integrity, and a culture focused on safety at every level.
