Crusoe is a vertically integrated AI infrastructure company building the complete stack from energy generation through cloud services to power large-scale AI workloads. The Cloud Storage team is seeking a Software Engineer II to lead development and execution of storage strategy, driving innovation and performance improvements in cloud storage infrastructure. In this role, you will contribute to engineering projects on cloud storage features, collaborating with product and engineering teams to define and execute roadmap items. You'll write sustainable, production-grade software and participate in design documentation, code reviews, and architecture discussions. Your work will span the full stack—from bare metal infrastructure to user-facing APIs—and include qualifications and rollouts of storage solutions. You'll foster continuous learning within the team, participate in cross-team initiatives like tech talks and open source development, and champion key engineering efforts. You should bring hands-on experience building and operating large-scale, complex distributed cloud computing infrastructure, ideally with exposure to redundant and fault-tolerant storage solutions including backups, replication, encryption, and data protection mechanisms. Strong fundamentals in professional software engineering practices are essential: coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations. Technical proficiency with at least one language (Java or Go preferred), Infrastructure as Code tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, Terraform), and Linux systems internals is required. Bonus qualifications include hands-on experience with NVMe, SSDs, and distributed storage systems; in-depth knowledge of block, object, or file storage protocols (NFS, SMB, iSCSI, NVMe-oF); open source contributions (Ceph, GlusterFS, OpenEBS); system programming in C, C++, or Rust; networking concepts; and an advanced degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
