Abnormal AI is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Detection Team, which builds advanced technology to identify and stop email and cloud-based attacks. In this role, you will own the Model Platform infrastructure that enables ML and Data Science teams to develop and deploy detection systems at scale.
You will be responsible for architecting, designing, building, deploying, and maintaining model serving infrastructure that supports the Detection Engine. Key responsibilities include owning projects that scale model serving and data processing services to handle 10x current traffic, managing real-time and near real-time streaming pipelines, and operating online feature serving services. You'll collaborate closely with machine learning engineers and data scientists, translating their feedback into technical strategy and execution.
The ideal candidate brings a first-principles approach to building scalable, customer-centric solutions, demonstrates ownership-oriented thinking, and can iterate quickly on novel problems. You should have 4+ years of software engineering experience with hands-on expertise in data-focused solutions. Proficiency with AI tools to accelerate engineering outcomes is essential, as is experience maintaining large-scale distributed systems on cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure). Strong fundamentals in computer science, data structures, and performance optimization are required, along with a BS in Computer Science or related field.
Desirable qualifications include familiarity with the company's stack (AWS, Kubernetes, Python/Django, Golang, Postgres), experience building scalable enterprise-grade applications, knowledge of web security (OWASP Top 10), and familiarity with AI development tools such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude.
