Rocket Lab is seeking a Software Engineer II to join its Space Systems team at the Engine Development Center in Long Beach, CA. This role focuses on developing full-stack software solutions for the company's Manufacturing Execution System (MES) platform and tools that integrate with the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.
You will collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Technicians, and Operations teams to improve the efficiency of critical Rocket Lab operations. Key responsibilities include designing and developing database schemas, back-end and front-end web applications, user interfaces, and machine-to-machine services. You'll work with relational databases and REST APIs within a service-oriented architecture, ensuring seamless upstream and downstream interactions.
Additional duties include writing software and unit tests, maintaining technical documentation, reviewing and approving source code merge requests, and applying engineering concepts to solve operational challenges. You'll independently plan and execute tasks, collaborate across teams, lead product demonstrations, deliver training, and support operational software systems in production.
Required qualifications include a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline, plus 2+ years of professional software development experience. You must be proficient in statically typed programming languages (e.g., C#) and modern TypeScript frameworks (e.g., Angular), with strong knowledge of relational databases and REST APIs.
Desirable experience includes familiarity with manufacturing and aerospace industries, AWS and cloud providers, Docker and Kubernetes, and Elasticsearch. The role may involve prolonged periods of computer work and occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.
