Abnormal AI is an AI-native cybersecurity platform protecting enterprises from sophisticated email, collaboration, and identity-based threats. The Identity Platform team builds the data infrastructure and capabilities powering detection engines, customer-facing identity insights, and APIs across Abnormal's products.
As a Software Engineer II, Full Stack, you will own full-stack features end-to-end, with meaningful focus on frontend engineering and modern web experiences. You'll design, build, test, and operate customer-facing features across frontend applications, APIs, and backend services. The role involves developing intuitive, high-quality web experiences with strong attention to usability, performance, accessibility, and UI/UX fundamentals.
Key responsibilities include building scalable backend services and data access patterns supporting identity insights and detection workflows; owning well-scoped projects from requirements clarification through design, implementation, rollout, monitoring, and continuous improvement; working with distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and event-driven architectures; collaborating with product managers, designers, and partner teams; writing maintainable code with automated tests and documentation; participating in code reviews and design discussions; and contributing to on-call and production support.
Required qualifications: 3+ years professional software engineering experience building and operating production web applications; strong full-stack development with meaningful frontend contributions and solid backend fundamentals; proficiency in React or modern frontend frameworks with strong JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, and CSS foundations; backend service and API experience with Python, Go, Java, or comparable languages; solid computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, testing, and software design; AWS or cloud platform experience with Docker and Kubernetes familiarity; relational or NoSQL database experience; and ability to take ownership, communicate clearly, and collaborate across teams.
Nice-to-have qualifications include distributed systems and event-driven architecture experience, React ecosystem tools (Redux, Next.js), Django or similar frameworks, security/identity/SaaS product experience, observability and reliability improvements, and AI-assisted development familiarity. Direct cybersecurity experience is not required; the company values strong engineering fundamentals, product thinking, ownership, and learning ability.
