Salary: USD 106,000 - 142,000 / annual

Taskrabbit is a marketplace platform connecting people with Taskers for everyday tasks like furniture assembly, handyman work, and moving help. The company is owned by IKEA and operates globally with a hybrid workforce. You'll join the Fulfillment Lifecycle team, responsible for backend systems that match jobs to Taskers and guide them through completion. This team is modernizing a legacy monolith into API-first microservices while improving job matching using data-driven approaches and experimentation. Key responsibilities include: - Building and evolving backend services powering Taskrabbit's fulfillment pipeline - Improving Tasker matching and ranking algorithms for partner and marketplace jobs - Working with large-scale data migrations and structured/unstructured signals - Enhancing the search platform - Decomposing legacy components into independent domain services - Designing and consuming REST APIs while interfacing with ML-owned recommendation systems - Leveraging AI coding agents and modern developer tools for faster development - Owning work end-to-end: design, code review, testing, observability, and on-call rotation Required experience: - 2+ years building and operating backend services in production (Node.js/TypeScript, Ruby, or similar) - Experience with AI coding agents in production systems - Designing and consuming REST APIs in service-oriented or microservices environments - Strong problem-solving in complex, ambiguous systems with incremental shipping - Genuine focus on testing, debugging, reliability, and production observability - Helpful: system migration/re-platforming, search/ranking/relevance, structured/unstructured data, A/B testing - Familiarity with AWS, CI/CD, and AI-assisted development tools The role requires hybrid work with two days per week in-office at the San Francisco Bay Area location.
