Echodyne is seeking a Software Engineer II, Embedded to design and develop high-performance radar equipment subsystems using the company's industry-leading solid-state beam-steering radar technology. The role involves working with an experienced cross-disciplinary team to create secure, high-assurance software solutions for autonomous vehicles, uncrewed aircraft, drones, and critical infrastructure security applications. Key responsibilities include designing, developing, and optimizing high-assurance software components in C++ for embedded Linux-based systems. You will participate in design and code reviews, contribute to improvements in coding practices and development tools, and support testing efforts across the team. Collaboration is essential—you'll work alongside radar engineers, signal processing specialists, and other software engineers to implement platform functionality that meets specific system control and signal processing requirements. Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent military/industry experience, plus 3+ years designing, implementing, integrating, and testing embedded software in real-time operating environments. You must have hands-on experience with embedded Linux-based C++ development, embedded systems debugging using oscilloscopes and logic analyzers, Python or scripting for test automation, Git-based version control, and unit/integration testing. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across hardware and software teams are essential. Desired experience includes secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC), custom Linux OS building (Yocto/Bitbake), DevOps and CI/CD concepts, RF systems development (radar, electronic warfare, cellular), mentoring junior engineers, embedded communication protocols (UART, SPI, I2C, TCP/UDP), and systems-level programming with memory management and concurrency expertise.
