Kraken, one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms founded in 2011, is seeking an experienced Software Engineer II to join the Payments & Blockchain team. The team is responsible for the first and last mile of every dollar (digital or fiat) that flows in or out of Kraken, integrating the platform's systems with an expanding universe of payment methods.
In this role, you will design and implement robust services and libraries for payments integration across Kraken's products. You'll write reusable, testable, and highly efficient backend code while collaborating with cross-functional teams including Product, Design, and Frontend Engineering to ensure seamless integration of new features in a large-scale distributed systems architecture. You'll partner closely with crypto-native engineers and have the opportunity to autonomously debug issues across the full stack.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 3+ years of software engineering experience
- Proficiency in writing clean, scalable backend code in a systems language, with preference for Rust or Node/Typescript
- Demonstrated commitment to a security-first mindset when designing systems
- Capability to autonomously debug issues across the stack, including OS, network, and application layers
- Familiarity with distributed systems and technologies, including RPC protocols, Kafka, and Event Driven Systems
