Bubble is a visual AI app builder that empowers anyone to create software without writing code. With over 6 million users globally, the platform combines AI-assisted development with a structured visual editor, enabling users to build fully-functional, scalable applications across web, iOS, and Android.
You'll join the Scaling team, which owns infrastructure, reliability, and enablement for Bubble's largest customers. The team tackles challenges around scalable infrastructure, core backend systems, capacity management, and data scalability while balancing costs and addressing implementation inefficiencies.
In this role, you'll contribute to Bubble's backend infrastructure that scales to support infinitely many apps of any size and complexity. Key responsibilities include improving performance and reliability across backend services, supporting efficiency and capacity management, implementing observability and SLOs, handling billions of requests across the platform, contributing to the workflow engine and data tier for high-volume ingest/export, building foundational services for next-generation cloud infrastructure, and participating in triage and on-call processes to diagnose and resolve production issues.
You'll work alongside a small, elite team on a platform reshaping the engineering stack. This is an opportunity to grow your skills on real-world, high-scale systems while learning from senior engineers and helping foster an inclusive, collaborative engineering culture.
Required: 2+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in high-growth startups; strong coding skills; understanding of scalable distributed systems; ownership mindset; strong problem-solving and communication skills; willingness to participate in on-call processes. Helpful: familiarity with Node.js, Rust, PostgreSQL, Terraform, and AWS.
Tech stack: Frontend (Typescript, SolidJS), Backend (Typescript, Node.js, Redis, Postgres, TimescaleDB), Infrastructure (AWS, Terraform, Rust). The role includes after-hours/on-call availability.
