Salary: USD 152,000 - 190,000 / annual

As a Software Engineer II, Backend, you will help develop new products from concept to launch, building customer-facing products that drive direct business impact and shape Brex's long-term technical vision. You'll work on systems that scale with speed and intention, tackling hard technical problems with high autonomy and deep collaboration across the engineering organization.
Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with engineers across the company to build new features and products end-to-end
- Work alongside user-facing teams like Sales and Support to deeply understand customer needs
- Design and implement solutions to improve customers' banking experiences
- Own problems end-to-end, from user experience and data models to scalability, operability, and ongoing metrics
- Tune and polish features to a high degree of excellence
You'll be encouraged to be metric and data-driven, think creatively, and help Brex scale into new markets. The role is based in San Francisco with a hybrid work model requiring a minimum of three coordinated days in the office per week (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday), plus up to four weeks per year of fully remote work.
Requirements:
- 4+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and deploying full-stack applications
- Experience architecting, developing, and testing client-side code end-to-end
- A high bar for engineering standards and a willingness to learn
