Salary: USD 130,000 - 170,000 / annual

Shift5 is a rapidly growing cybersecurity and observability platform specializing in operational technology (OT) systems for defense vehicles and commercial aviation. The company helps fleets run smarter and safer by democratizing access to onboard OT data. As a Software Engineer II, you'll join the Product Engineering team reporting to the Manager of Off-Vehicle Software Engineering. You'll design, build, and deploy high-impact features across Shift5's full-stack product suite, working with engineers, product managers, program managers, and industry experts to conceive and implement major features that directly impact fleet safety and operational readiness. Key responsibilities include: - Designing and building new features and improvements to user interfaces and APIs - Owning features end-to-end with high autonomy and velocity, from requirements interpretation through testing and maintenance - Creating robust, domain-tailored solutions for commercial aviation and defense customers across diverse platforms, environments, and cloud solutions - Contributing to architectural designs that meet business requirements, security, and quality standards - Mentoring and coaching team members while actively participating in Agile development processes - Staying current with relevant technologies and software engineering developments Success means delivering scalable, observable, and reliable applications; operating with high velocity and autonomy; actively shaping product design alongside multidisciplinary teams; and consistently aligning solutions with high-security and compliance standards for defense and aviation fleets. Required qualifications: BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent; 3+ years software development experience; strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and a modern frontend framework (React, Angular, or Vue); experience with Go and REST APIs; AWS, Docker, and CI/CD pipeline experience; prior SaaS product experience; US citizenship and ability to obtain/hold a Top Secret security clearance.
