Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform enabling organizations in physical operations—agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing—to harness IoT data for actionable insights and operational improvement. The Safety Triage & Insights team builds products and platforms helping customers review safety events, understand driver risk, and take action more effectively. The team works across backend systems, APIs, and user-facing experiences powering safety event triage, supervisor workflows, driver insights, and related safety experiences. The company is investing in AI-native product development, including LLM-powered workflows and agentic systems, to help customers transition from manual incident review toward proactive, intelligent safety operations.
As a Software Engineer II, you will own customer-facing features from concept to production, delivering experiences that improve customer workflows and drive business impact. You'll collaborate across Product, Design, and engineering to build scalable, AI-powered solutions while continuously improving system reliability and scalability. Key responsibilities include independently delivering well-scoped features and platform capabilities through design, implementation, rollout, and production follow-through; building reliable services, APIs, and web experiences; contributing to AI-powered workflows using modern LLM tooling with evaluation, iteration, and human-in-the-loop patterns; making thoughtful technical tradeoffs across speed, maintainability, scalability, and customer impact; and collaborating across Engineering, Product, Design, ML, and platform teams.
Minimum requirements: 18+ months of relevant software engineering experience building, shipping, and operating reliable customer-facing production systems; experience developing features or end-to-end solutions across backend services, APIs, and modern web applications; ability to independently own moderately complex projects or features with strong execution and follow-through; experience writing clean, efficient, maintainable code and reviewing peer code; ability to make thoughtful technical tradeoffs; and experience using metrics, logs, tests, or tracing to debug and validate solutions.
