Salary: USD 102,000 - 128,000 / annual

Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company delivering responsive launch services, spacecraft design and manufacturing, payloads, and satellite components. The company operates the Electron rocket, the second most frequently launched U.S. rocket annually, and is developing Neutron, a medium-lift reusable launch vehicle. Rocket Lab's Space Systems business designs and builds satellites and components, including spacecraft selected for NASA missions to the Moon and Mars. As a Software Engineer II in Operations Software, you will be based at Rocket Lab's Long Beach headquarters and develop software that provides display, capture, and management of telemetry data, and commanding capabilities to enable Electron, Neutron, and Photon testing and mission operations. You will work within the Operations Software Team and broader Terrestrial Software organization to build systems critical to mission success. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining user-facing software used to launch rockets and perform on-orbit spacecraft operations; developing and maintaining software to ingest, process, and store telemetry data; performing independent engineering work with potential product ownership; developing operational documentation; and coordinating with stakeholders across the organization. You will bring a degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field. Golang development experience is required. Nice-to-have qualifications include C# and Angular development, user interface development experience, Kubernetes, and CI/CD systems knowledge. The role may involve prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, and computer work, with occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes in production areas. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, refugees, or asylees due to ITAR export control regulations governing space technology.
