Bestow is a vertical technology platform serving major life insurers, modernizing a centuries-old industry through AI-powered infrastructure. The Pre-Sales Tools team (8 engineers) builds backend services powering agent quoting, configuration, and application-submission tools—Bestow's B2B front door to distribution partners.
In this role, you'll build and scale Go microservices that enable insurance agents and partners to quote, configure, and submit applications before checkout. You'll partner closely with App and Checkout teams on tightly coupled surfaces, contribute to architectural decisions, and resolve partner-specific edge cases as volume scales. You'll write unit and integration tests, conduct peer reviews, and support knowledge transfer to a team with a high contractor ratio through pairing and documentation.
Key responsibilities include owning services end-to-end, designing clear APIs (REST, gRPC, OpenAPI), following CI/CD best practices, and using AI coding tools (Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor) as a default part of your daily workflow. You'll help improve automation and platform practices while contributing to architectural discussions even as the team navigates an acting-EM gap.
You bring 3+ years of professional backend development experience, strong Go proficiency, and hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices, Docker, and CI/CD. You're fluent with AI tools in real engineering work and comfortable with mentorship moments and cross-team collaboration. You excel at debugging production issues, explaining technical tradeoffs to diverse audiences, and driving issues to resolution with ownership and bias for action.
