The AI Foundations team's mission is to accelerate Temporal adoption across the entire ecosystem by combining deep use-case understanding with computer systems and software design fundamentals. The team is action-oriented, ships fast, and solves customer problems while maintaining thorough technical grounding.
As a Software Engineer II on this team, you will work on two major areas: (1) agentic development, maintaining and expanding agent skills that enhance code generation tools like Codex and Claude Code when writing Temporal applications; and (2) partner ecosystem integration, developing plugin systems that integrate Temporal's durable execution with popular open-source agent frameworks including Pydantic AI, Vercel's AI SDK, Google ADK, and OpenAI Agents SDK.
Key responsibilities include designing and building agentic coding systems, implementing Temporal AI SDK features across multiple frameworks, developing deep expertise in AI application development patterns and emerging architectures, and taking end-to-end ownership of new features. You will work across multiple programming languages (Python, TypeScript, Java, Go), serve as a domain expert on AI design patterns, collaborate with the developer community on debugging and feature feedback, write technical documentation, and occasionally support customers requiring specialized engineering expertise.
Temporal is fully remote with optional in-person collaboration. The company values open-source development, writing-first communication, and reliable, well-tested code. You will travel once or twice yearly for team meetings and may optionally attend developer conferences.
