Salary: USD 110,000 - 124,000 / annual
OpenGov is seeking a Software Engineer I to build SaaS solutions for local and state government agencies. The company serves 2,000+ public sector organizations with an integrated ERP platform covering asset management, procurement, accounting, budgeting, permitting, and transparency tools.
In this role, you'll develop full-stack features using ReactJS, TypeScript, GraphQL, and NodeJS in an AI-first engineering culture. You'll collaborate with product, UX, and platform teams to translate business priorities into shipped features, optimize applications for speed and scalability, and resolve technical challenges in a fast-paced, agile environment.
Key responsibilities include designing and developing well-structured APIs, writing clean and performant code with strong test coverage, delivering scalable software at pace, and contributing to OpenGov's engineering culture of innovation. You'll work across the entire stack, shipping features end-to-end while staying closely aligned to customer needs and outcomes.
Required qualifications: BA/BS in computer science or equivalent; proficiency in Java, C++, or C#; strong understanding of data structures and algorithms; demonstrated experience working with customers to improve product experiences; comfort shipping features across frontend and backend; and experience with AI-driven UX, agents, or workflow automation.
Preferred skills include working knowledge of Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, ReactJS, NodeJS, GraphQL APIs, event-driven architecture with Kafka, and ElasticSearch/OpenSearch.
