GOAT Group is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join its Engineering team in Shanghai. The role focuses on designing and implementing new features across multiple backend applications, with particular emphasis on enhancing the Ruby on Rails backend that powers the core business while building out a new, more scalable service-driven architecture.
As an individual contributor on a small team, you will manage projects of significantly larger scope, formulate efficient delivery plans for stable, well-tested features, and make technical recommendations that improve the codebase while minimizing risk. You will identify and fix bugs and performance bottlenecks, coordinate seamlessly across technical and product teams, and contribute to code reviews and team processes.
The ideal candidate has 2-5 years of software engineering experience, preferably with Ruby on Rails (Python, Go, PHP, or Java experience is also acceptable). You should have hands-on experience with e-commerce and web applications, be comfortable with web services technologies, design patterns, and architectural tradeoffs. A BS degree is preferred. You must be fluent in both Mandarin and English.
