Applied Intuition is seeking a Software Engineer to build and maintain hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) CI infrastructure that powers testing for physical AI systems across automotive, defense, and industrial applications. The role focuses on designing and operating test frameworks that validate embedded firmware and hardware integrations at scale.
You will own the architecture and operation of large-scale test labs, debugging flaky integration tests in production CI environments, and managing bare-metal Linux systems that interface with hardware via JTAG debuggers, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes. The position requires deep expertise in embedded systems debugging, CI/CD pipeline design, and the ability to troubleshoot complex hardware-software interactions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining hardware test frameworks and CI infrastructure
- Debugging integration tests and resolving flakiness in production pipelines
- Managing bare-metal Linux systems and embedded device bring-up
- Implementing networking, kernel modules, and systemd configurations for test environments
- Collaborating with hardware and firmware teams to validate physical AI systems
Required skills: Python/Bash proficiency, pytest, CLI tooling, Linux systems administration, embedded device experience, and understanding of CI/HIL concepts. Familiarity with CAN/CAN-FD bus protocols, Bazel/monorepo workflows, and NixOS is a plus.
