Hex is seeking an experienced full-stack Software Engineer to join the Growth & Monetization group. This team owns multiple work streams including product-led growth (PLG), user activation, pricing and billing, and new product initiatives. The role combines engineering rigor with business ownership—you'll build full-stack features (React, TypeScript, Python) that drive conversion, activation, and revenue outcomes.
Key responsibilities include: building growth-focused product experiences like onboarding flows, activation nudges, and billing interfaces; designing and running A/B tests across the user funnel; owning key business metrics such as trial-to-paid conversion and expansion revenue; collaborating with Product, Design, Data, and Marketing teams on growth strategy; and instrumenting products with robust tracking and analytics to inform decisions.
The ideal candidate has 4+ years of full-stack engineering experience, a business-owner mindset, strong data intuition, and pragmatism around shipping fast and iterating. You're comfortable making decisions on imperfect data and equally comfortable setting up rigorous experiments. Familiarity with B2B SaaS, experimentation frameworks, billing systems, and collaboration products is expected.
Bonus experience includes: prior work at a PLG company, background in analytics or data tools, knowledge of growth loops and activation frameworks, or early-stage startup/founder experience.
Hex's product is a web-based notebook and app authoring platform. The tech stack includes TypeScript and React on the frontend (Apollo GraphQL, Redux), Express/Apollo GraphQL on the backend, Postgres and Redis for data, and Kubernetes for orchestration. Infrastructure uses Terraform, Helm, and AWS.
This is a full-time hybrid role based in the New York office (in-office Tuesdays and Thursdays expected). San Francisco and US remote candidates are also considered. Competitive salary, equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible PTO included.
